The Socket CHS 7Xi is a unique cordless handheld scanner designed for mobility. It’s certified by Apple for iOS devices, but is also compatible with Blackberry, Android, and Windows. Capable of decoding both 1D and 2D symbologies, the Socket CHS 7Xi works with practically any smartphone or tablet and provides a convenient solution for mobile business applications requiring industrial-class scanning performance in a compact, highly portable scanning device.
Applications and Typical Uses
Designed for portability, the Socket CHS 7Xi is ideal for field sales and field service applications, asset tracking, and a variety of other applications requiring a truly mobile scanning solution. An antimicrobial version, the CHS 7XiRx, is well-suited for healthcare, food service, and applications in which hygiene is a consideration. A protective rubber bumper and rubber sealing adds durability to this compact handheld scanner, which withstands repeated drops to concrete without damage or loss of functionality.
The Socket CHS 7Xi isn’t just small and portable, it’s also quite versatile. It reads both 1D and 2D barcodes and scans in any direction for ease of use. Additionally, this small-but-powerful handheld scanner reads barcodes printed on labels as well as barcodes displayed on device screens. Device-pairing with a smartphone or tablet is as simple as scanning a barcode displayed on the device.
Operating Systems and Software
The Socket CHS 7Xi is Apple iOS-certified, adding support for Bluetooth SPP connections with iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch devices. This scanner easily connects with Bluetooth-enabled smartphones, PDAs, tablets, notebooks, and desktop computers. It’s compatible with the following operating systems:
Both the Socket CHS 7Xi and the CHS 7XiRx offer good general durability, withstanding repeated drops to concrete thanks to protective rubber bumpers and sealing. The CHS 7XiRx is a white, antimicrobial version suitable for use in hygiene-sensitive applications, such as healthcare and food services. These handheld scanners are not designed for harsh industrial environments, but do provide ample durability for general use asset tracking, field sales, and field service applications.
Additional Features and Functionality
Another version of the Socket CHS, the 7Pi, is ideal for use in special lighting conditions or barcode requirements. It features a Class 2 Laser, for use in bright sunlight, low light, and with small or tightly spaced barcodes, barcodes on shiny surfaces, or barcodes behind plastic or glass.
